As a Supply Chain Planner, you will relieve the customer of all concerns regarding the transport of their product. You will work in a small team, which operates in-house at the client. The office is located next to Rotterdam Central Station. Our client is an international, dynamic and fast growing organization in vegetable fats and oils which are mainly used in detergents and household and personal care products. In your daily work, you make sure that the product (liquids in bulk) is transported from multiple production locations to end customers throughout Europe. This means you will have external contacts with

  • The planners at the producer (our customer): what needs to be transported when and in what quantity?
  • The operators at the production sites: what time can we load, are there any delays or particularities?
  • The planners of the carrier that will carry out the transport: how should they instruct their drivers?

Internally at the customer (operational team), you have several contacts with whom you have intensive contact (via email and face-to-face) about peculiarities that affect the arrival time, to which they have to adjust their production. Besides the daily planning and administration of transport movements, you are also actively involved in continuous improvement: You identify incidents and non-conformities, and collaborate on solutions and follow-up actions based on KPIs.

What does the work look like?

For some production locations you receive a weekly schedule in advance, for other locations you receive the orders more adhoc. As soon as you receive an order, you register it in the freight management system (FMS) and find a suitable transport solution to go with it. The majority of the routes you have to plan for the customer are already tented in advance. You look for a carrier with the order, which has the capacity at the time you want the transport to be carried out.

As soon as the order is confirmed with the carrier, you link this back to our customer and have contact with operators at the loading location. In exceptional cases, you liaise with the end customer. You have no contact with drivers in this role. Should something go wrong with a transport, you make sure it is resolved as best as possible.

When the order is fully executed, you will make sure that all details (such as extra costs for waiting times or cleaning) are listed, and you will pass the order on to our financial administration ready for invoicing.

You'll have your own workload, but you'll really form a team with your colleagues: ultimately, you'll be jointly responsible for the end result.

You will work in a young and experienced team that works independently.The working atmosphere is informal and collegial, and there is a good balance between sociability and work.

Vereisten

What do we expect from you?

  • MBO+/HBO working and thinking level
  • Basic knowledge of logistics (e.g. by training in shipping and logistics)
  • Preferably you have 1-3 years experience with logistics and/or forwarding work
  • You can communicate excellently in Dutch and English, both orally and in writing
  • You have self initiative and are communicative
  • Travel time should preferably not exceed 45 minutes
